I wanted to jump on the blog quickly to let all my new wedding clients know about our new photo presentation boxes. Last year I was disappointed when the company I used in California closed down shop. I loved their artisan linen boxes and albums. So I have been on the hunt for new ones, to present to my clients for the upcoming season. Well, I finally found them, and they are gorgeous! For me, having actual tangible prints is so important. This is why each session or wedding includes either prints, or an album. Here is the thing: if you have lovely pictures, and they sit on your computer somewhere, you don't really get to LOOK AT THEM! What is the point in that? Pictures should be handled, hung, framed, and shared. RIGHT? I love the neutral tone, and you can display the box right on your coffee table or bookshelf. Or keep on your desk at work!
a beautiful sunset, and the beach...what more could you ask for? This beautiful family!
I had the privilege of traveling to Nantucket last week, on a working vacation. One of the many perks of being a photographer, is the traveling I do. Not to mention that I got to photograph one of my favorite families of all times. I have been photographing this family for nearly 13 years! Nantucket is a really special place for me. It's where I fell in love with taking photographs. When I was a sophomore in college I signed up for photography classes at NISDA. I spent the summer learning darkroom skills, camera adjustments, and honing my skills, as what I would later pursue my degree in. It was there that I really learned that photography was what I wanted to do more than anything. It was a really surreal and special trip for me, because I hadn't been back since 1989! While a lot has changed, It is still as charming as ever. Dotted with flower covered cottages, cobblestone streets, and the smell of salt air. As charming as Nantucket is, it has also gotten so crowded with people and cars, I was a bit flabbergasted at how much it had changed. I have to say, if you are planing a trip, and you've never been, hit nantucket in the off season, and enjoy the island with out the crowd~ I also am planing another trip back next August, so if anyone wants to book a family session now, let me know, and I can put it the calendar. I book up very quickly when traveling, and only have a limited amount of slots! you can fill out the form, or email me firstname.lastname@example.org I am also hoping to book a few weddings there, anyone getting married outside there? Or at the White Elephant, or Wauwinet House? I 'd love to learn more about you and chat all things ACK and weddings. till next time, xo
Summer Family session, Bridgewater Connecticut . This is what it's all about people.
The perfect ingredients for a fun family photo session. Two cute kids, two fun and silly parents, grass to run around on, gorgeous sunshine, and a pretty sweet family. Summer family sessions are just about my favorite thing to shoot. I love how much fun they can be. Especially when it is a family that I have worked with many years in a row. The better you know them, the more authentic the pictures really are. No awkwardness, no posing, just spontaneous fun and games. No, the pile up on top of each other was not PLANNED! The kids were goofing around and jumped on their parents, as they fell to the ground. If you'd like to see some other family photo session from this lovely family, check them out over the years here and here.
If you are interested in booking a family photo session this summer, I am getting pretty booked up. I do have slots available on some weekends in August still, or if you are flexible, I am free on several weekdays in August and September as well. Shoot me an email (or fill out the form under contact). email@example.com. I love meeting new families, and I offer free travel throughout Litchfield County, CT.
Think green act green!
Think Green act green, a great concept which is super important to me personally. as well as professionally. I was approached by someone to help promote the elimination of plastic bags in small town, Washington CT .I was more than happy to oblige, and so I took some fun pictures of Caroline, who is donated money she raised from her yoga classes to help support the cause. The Pictures were taken at Waldingfield Farm (a favorite spot of min in Washington). The small town want to abolish the use of plastic bags, which I think we can-all get behind, am I right? Here are a few pictures from the photo shoot. Sara and Mark’s Greenwich, CT wedding was a family affair. After meeting many years ago, the two of them had each two children, and last Saturday their family became one. It was a low-key, and very elegant affair, the boys in their Tuxes, and sweet little Chole (Sara’s seven-year-old) had a magic wand flower (thanks to the florists at Something Special).
Their first look! So fabulous, and the kids and I watch from the little balcony. Bridesmaid and bestie Nicole was a rockstar, the ultimate friend through out the day. I loved this 'first look", when Sara's dad saw her for the first time. Nothing sweeter than a father daughter moment. After the ceremony everyone hopped in limos over to Valbella !! Cocktails, apps, & a magic show for the kids.
During cocktail hour out on the terrace, the grownups sipped champagne & appetizers while the children had a magic show outside, with board games, balloons and even cornhole! There was not a detail missed. In the evening they danced, and ate cake, and danced more. What a beautiful new family. Congratulations Sara & Mark!

Family photo lifestyle sessions are my favorite. I wanted to post a quick note about the upcoming summer and fall sessions. I book up very quickly in the summer, since Litchfield County is a summertime destination from New York city. If you KNOW you want to book a session it is not to early to book for July, August and September. Especially if you are looking for a weekend. As my schedule fills up quickly in the summer. Here's what you need to know:
Family photo lifestyle sessions
Cost: $500 This include an hour and a half of my time, all images are edited and put online in your own little gallery, so you can order prints, and share with family. I also include prints (or one framed 5x7 print). This is an awesome way to preserve these fleeting moments of childhood. It also includes up to six family members, and if you have babes that you want to show off a few cute outfits in, it gives you time to do a few different outfits. I offer morning and late afternoon sessions when the light is best. You may send me an email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your spot. Feel free to check a few out from last summer here & here. Please feel free to cal me if you have any questions, or you are new to family Lifestyle photography.
Family pictures are my favorite. Not your typical or standard pictures. But family pictures that tell a story. This Family get together in New Milford was fabulous! I love a good family lifestyle session. Coming from a large family myself, it is always a pleasure catching other families at home, celebrating and chatting and enjoying each other's company. One of the first things I usually ask a client when they ask me to document a huge family, is how casual or how candid are you? When they answer "very" I am all in. Here is a bit of the time at spent with this amazing, gracious family, who opened up their home to me, and their stories. How about this swing in the barn house!? An indoor swing-love it. There is a long story behind the family house, and it goes back to the 1940's, when an artist, bought the farm, and raised his children. The family home has remained with the family, and everyone (grandchildren included here) enjoy visits to the farm, the barn house, and the main farm house throughout the summer. The original farm house has been restored beautifully after a flood last winter. I loved this airy guest room in the main house. The pool was built around an old barn foundation. The old silo serves as a changing room, with twenty foot high stone walls, and wisteria growing around the silo. It looks a like a fairy tale castle.
Tony + Corryn Engaged
I am so excited to share these sweet engagement pictures with you on the blog. I met Tony & Corryn through Instagram several months ago. Corryn and I were both remodeling our kitchens, and we chatted all things kitchen, from subway tiles, to countertops. After finally meeting fiancé, Tony last weekend during a rainy day in Morris, CT. It seemed obvious to me to take pictures that day in their house, that they worked so hard on together! We had originally planned on an outdoor session in Litchfield on the green, but due to the rain we switched things around. I am glad it worked out this way because it gave me a chance to see all the hard work they did in person. It also allowed me to really capture who they are as a couple. Surrounded by their little animals, a sweet dog, and two ducks. We ended up hanging out for over two hours over tea and chatting about everything-from their upcoming wedding plans in September and how they met. They met when corryn was just 16. She had her eyes on him at a baseball game that her dad was coaching. Through the years they stayed in touch and started dating seriously in the last five years. BTW-the table that is pictured in the kitchen was just one of their DIY projects! I love their spirit, the love for one another, and the way they make each other laugh! You can follow along on their home reno and more on their Instagram feed.
And suddenly we've gone from winter to Spring in a matter of days. I've been trying to 'put pencil to paper' so to speak, but now that the weather has shifted I've been spending all my free time outside! I am really excited to kick of wedding season, as well as my anual spring mini sessions. I am still here, and ready for what the season brings. Which will include a few summer destnitions in Nantucket, Martha's Vineyardm and more. But I am most excited for the beach, and the few little elopments I photographed this spring, which I will share soon. I love intimate, and tiny weddings, as well as elopments. It is always such a really meaningful wedding. No fuss, and I really love the intimacy of a small wedding. You really get to capture all the emotions and authentic moments. For now, I will leave you with this: I still have a few slots open this month for Mother's Day Mini Sessions. Now through May 20th. only 200.00 for a lovely session with me on location in Litchfield County. Happy Mother's day!
Ok, so not very timely, but I wanted to jump in here (January of course) and wish everyone a happy new year. Sorry for the radio silence. Ive been working on my new website design, full branding makeover, and logo design! Other than that, it was a full week of stay-in-pj's-all-day kinda vacation, lots of hot chocolate, warm cozy fires, and movie watching. My idea of a perfect way to ring in the new year! I am really happy to be selling my art now online! I first started doing this in the late fall, when a photograph of mine, was bought by a designer, and then featured on Home Polish! So I scrambled to put a storefront together in a few short hours! 'Dunes' is the print I sold, and now I am in a partnership with Framebridge! So exciting, it's truly a life long dream of mine to sell my photographs! So with all that new, I sharing with you a few sweet gallery wall examples (some of my art in them, and photographs). Remember you can mix and match frame, artwork, and photographs! Here is a great example of a really traditional gallery wall, with matching gold frames, and the mat's are all the same size, nice if you like a grid design. I personally love a little salon style wall, different shapes, colors and images. Mixing vintage art work with current family pictures, as well as this print from my shop . For questions about design, please shoot me a message! email@example.com Or if you already know what you want head over to the shop and pick out one of my own prints. Once you order a print, with frame, it will be drop shipped directly to you via Framebridge. It is is easy-peasy.
Happy New Year! and may your new year be filled with lots of love, light, and art!
It's always hard to chose favorites! As far as this year goes I had a lot, both family & wedding pictures and two awesome styled shoots. It's always interesting to me what other's pick as fav's and what end up being mine. With out further ado, a few of my very favorites from 2017~ *picture by my second photographer BrunaAnd for family and children's pictures, I always have a really hard time picking. But here are a few favorites from 2017! Have a happy New Year, and I will see you back here in 2018! xoxox-Kate
My beautiful cousin and her family, had some fun on a snowy day, and we captured some fun moments with her sweet fur babies too. So festive, isn't it?! This will (probably) be my last post of 2017, where does the time go? It is true, that the older you get the faster time goes by. It's been a beautiful year. Wishing everyone, who follows along on the blog, or on social media a very happy Christmas, and Hanukkah, a fun New Year's Eve too! I'll be chilling out watching movies, winter dog walks, hanging with my sisters and nieces and nephews, and my parents, ENJOY! xoxo, Kate
What a fun weekend ! I had several mini holiday sessions and we were blanketed with our first snow here in Litchfield County, Ct. Making the photo sessions truly winter/holiday inspired. Everyone (including me) was pretty excited about the first snowfall. Especially, though the kids and their adorable puppy! A snowy mini session was just what I needed to get into the holiday spirit!
